During the 2003-04 NBA season, the Lakers had arguably one of the most prolific starting lineups in NBA history headlined by Kobe Bryant. That same season, Upper Deck released its Exquisite Collection, which was distributed in $500 five-card packs and signaled a new era for basketball trading cards.
