Browsing the Newsstand

GoldenEye didn’t take over as the primary cover for any of the magazine issues it was reviewed in. Review covers only really happened for highly anticipated games that editors were sure would be a slam dunk (see Game Informer’s review cover of Final Fantasy VII). Since it was a licensed game based on a movie nearly two years old, expectations were not high ahead of time. It did make enough of an impact that it scored a cover blurb on almost every issue I tracked down.
